Meet new friends

What brings together people better than beer and bratwurst? German beer and bratwurst of course. You already have that in common with everyone in attendance and you’ll have no choice but to drink and celebrate with him or her. So share a Märzen bier and see what other color lederhosen or dimdls they have in their closet. You might be surprised!

Beer Maidens

Do you think they’d have your average bartender at the world’s largest beer festival? Think again. They know their beer and how to please all fellow avid beer drinkers. And did we mention they can carry 8-16 beers at a time? So you might as well bring all your friends, just make sure to keep your hands on the beer and off the maidens!

The food

Whether you enjoy the finer Bavarian delicacies or the broader taste of what Oktoberfest has to offer, they will have you covered. One of the best things about Oktoberfest is the profound number of different food vendors. You could eat a different Zur Bratwust every day if your digestive system could keep up. That’s if after the your first Kaiserschmarrn, sugar covered pieces of pancake dough drenched with jelly(pictured below), doesn’t leave you in a glorious food coma.

Beer

This ones a no brainer, but seriously how can Oktoberfest be what it is without it? Last year alone 6.7 million liters of beer we’re consumed and for those who count in beer, that 3.35 million beer boots filled… This is also just not just any beer; Oktoberfest only allows 6 breweries to serve the hoppy goodness. Not because they are the only ones to make beer, but because those breweries are the only ones to pass strict Bavarian purity requirements. So when you drink, you know you are drinking the real thing.

People. Everywhere

Of course Munich is still the worlds largest festival but there are actually still huge Oktoberfest’s all around the world. Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada hosts the 2nd largest festival in the world, attracting 700,000 people during the yearly celebration. Brazil also has a “little Germany”, called Blumenau. Partygoers consumed 652,000 liters of beer—mostly the Brazilian Beer Brahman in 2012 alone. If you are in the United States Cincinnati is a good homegrown festival alternative. Oktoberfest Zinzinatti attracts more than 500,000 people every year. Even though Cincinnati isn’t Munich; it can still boast having the record for the world’s largest chicken dance.
